Waste money and time

I read an interesting essay about money and time, from Paul Graham. First of all, his words and concepts actually broaden my horizon. He has ability to  make it interesting even when he describes an algorithm of spam email filter. I have to admit it is always very tough to write something interesting and to come up something new.

Paul Graham had a startup and bought by Yahoo later, which makes him become rich. He was thinking how to become poor from rich and try to avoid it. In movie and novels, indulgence is always the reason that rich becomes poor. However, unless your money is from inheritance or lottery, you cannot become poor by indulgence. Because you might try to be indulging one time and alarm of yourself gets off that you are wasting money. The only way to become poor from rich is bad investment.

The same thing to time. We can waste time by spending time for leisure or fake working. you will feel guilty when you sitting in sofa and watch TV for a whole day. Actually, my alarm will get off when I sit on sofa and watch TV for two hours, let alone for a whole day. However, I will clearly realize I was wasting time and my alarm made me try to avoid waste time in the future. How about fake working? for example, check and reply email, read a blog instead of thinking into it. All those fake work make you think you are working, but you actually did nothing. When you try to learn something, like new programming language. Only read book or watch video will not help. The best way to train and retain your brain to learn something new is repetition and exercise. Otherwise, you just cheat yourself you learned something when you really done nothing but become familiar with materials.

Wasting a whole for gaming or watching TV is not worst, because fake working is not even fun.
